Purely happenstance or ahead of the curve?

Indisputably, DNA Money is one of the top financial daily newspaper supplements. Is it purely happenstance that they have recommended Cairn as a decent buy or am I for once ahead of the curve to recommend Cairn before a leading financial daily does??? My guess is as good as yours. Here’s what DNA has to say…

I would appreciate every kind of criticism…

I think you need to be careful if you are having a , what they technically call in CFA, the confirmation bias. DNA is just one of the many financial papers, the best being economic times, mint, financial express, etc etc. Add to that the numerous brokerage house, even if we are to count only the good ones. Cairn, with such a large market cap is surely bound to be covered by all these houses, most likely with a buy rating. Not saying DNA recommendation is to be ignored, but lets not put too much stress on the recommendation of a financial daily newspaper.

    • I will investigate how many brokerages recommend buy vs hold vs sell. As far as ‘subjective’ ranking is concerned, the moment somebody says ‘best’, the mater inadvertently becomes controversial, so let’s leave it at that. Probably confirmation bias yes. But! What’s your solution, whenever you risk confirmation bias, do the opposite? Short cairn? Nonetheless, I appreciate you spared a few minutes to read-up.
